I’ve had this idea for a while; a playlist of songs curated in the spirit of the Enneagram 7’s motivations and fears.

Wait — what’s he talking about? What the heck’s an Enneagram?

Okay, fine. Quick summary. The Enneagram is a personality framework. It’s different from other personality frameworks in that it focuses on the core motivations and fears that drive certain behaviour.

Enneagram 7’s core fear, for example, is to be deprived and in pain. Our desire is to be satisfied and content — to have our needs fulfilled.

If you’re thinking “yeah, isn’t that everyone’s deepest fear and desire?” Then you’re probably also an Enneagram 7.

There are 9 main fears and motivations, and you have one of them — seriously.

If you haven’t looked into it, I recommend it. And if you’ve only gotten so far as to find your number and think it’s kinda neat — you’re missing out on the enriching opportunity that the Enneagram presents. If you take time with it, it’s a chance to really get to know yourself and to better understand the people you spend time with.

Like my friend Tony says, we’re all in our own universes. I think the Enneagram is a helpful way to make those universes touch and maybe overlap a little.

Alright, so every time I hear certain songs I think “man, that is such an Enneagram 7 song.” And then I think I should make a list.

Today, I finally made that list.

I’m sure it’ll grow. And if you’ve got some more suggestions to add, send them my way 😊

Let me know if you end up listening to it — I’d love to hear what you think 😊
